Estádio Mangueirão during interruption of the Brazilian Supercup - Image: Reproduction/Globo The Brazilian Supercup, between Flamengo and Botafogo, was interrupted due to the storm in Belém, in Pará, the city hosting this year's decision. The match this Sunday started at 4 pm.
What happened The interruption occurred 15 minutes into the first half, shortly after Flamengo opened the scoring with Bruno Henrique. The rain at the Mangueirão started just moments before the teams took the field. The performance by Joelma, which took place 45 minutes before the initial whistle, escaped the downpour.
According to the regulations, the referees can decide to extend the break for another 30 minutes before making another decision, which would be to postpone the match to the following day. Around 4:35 pm, the referees made the first inspection of the pitch. The rain continued, and the conditions remained unsuitable for the game. If the match does not take place on Sunday, the regulations provide for the match to be played the next day.
What does the CBF regulation say about rescheduling games "Art. 22 - Postponed matches will be played, or suspended matches will be completed, the next day, at 3 pm, at the same location, unless otherwise determined by the Competition Directorate, once the impediments have ceased."
